Recap: Pine View Panthers vs. Cedar Reds
The Pine View Panthers came into Friday's contest having lost three straight, but that streak is now in the rearview. They were the clear victor by a 65-41 margin over Cedar. The victory was just what Pine View needed coming off of a 76-56 defeat in their prior game.
Pine View's success was the result of a balanced attack that saw several players step up, but Nash Schroeder led the charge by scoring 11 points along with eight assists and five rebounds. It was the first time this season that Schroeder posted eight or more assists. Caleb Schmitt was another key contributor, scoring 16 points along with two steals.
Cedar lost on Friday despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Easton Albrecht, who scored nine points along with six rebounds and four steals. Another player making a difference was Hayden Kee, who scored eight points.
Even though they lost, Cedar smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Pine View only pulled down two offensive rebounds.
Pine View's victory bumped their record up to 13-8. As for Cedar, they have been struggling recently as they've lost ten of their last 11 matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-18 record this season.
Pine View will be playing at home against Crimson Cliffs at 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday. Pine View has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games. As for Cedar, they will head out on the road to challenge Dixie at 7:00 p.m. on Friday.
