Karmello Jones Delivers Best Effort of Season

Cross was led to victory by Karmello Jones, who turned in his biggest game of the season on Friday. Jones rushed for 289 yards and seven touchdowns while picking up 11.6 yards per carry, good enough to set a new career-high in rushing yards in the process. He really tore up the turf during one magnificent 87-yard run.

The victory was the fourth in a row for Cross, bringing their record for this year to 6-2. Jones and Cross will have some time to savor their win since their next game is a little ways off: they'll take on Bethune-Bowman at 7:30 p.m. on October 25th.

Bethune-Bowman's Losing Streak Is No More Thanks to Jaedon Bell

Jaedon Bell helped snap Bethune-Bowman's 13-game losing streak dating back to last season. St. John had no answer to Bell on Friday as he threw for 172 yards and four touchdowns while completing 71.4% of his passes.

Bethune-Bowman's first win this season bumped their record up to 1-7. Bell and Bethune-Bowman will take on Scott's Branch at 7:30 p.m. on Friday.

Baptist Hill Gets a Boost from Grant in 37-20 Loss

While Romaine Grant delivered a dominant performance on Friday, a win just wasn't in the cards for Baptist Hill. Nobody could stop Grant as he rushed for 50 yards and two touchdowns, and also picked up 49 receiving yards.

If the past is any indication, Grant could be in store for another big game when he takes on St. John's on Friday. Grant picked up 122 receiving yards and a touchdown the last time he and the Islanders duked it out back in October of 2023.

Jailyn Broughton Makes It Two for Cross

The second Cross player making an appearance here is Jailyn Broughton, and for good reason. He picked up two sacks and made ten total tackles.

Preston Fuller Turns in Season-Best Performance

On Friday, Cross got the W thanks in part to Preston Fuller playing the best football he has all season. Fuller picked up a sack, made five total tackles (2.0 for loss), and defended two passes.
