Softball Recap: Venice Now 7-2 over Last Nine Games

Venice saw some tournament action on Friday. They walked away with a 7-3 win over the Bishop Kenny Crusaders.

Venice got a great performance from Olivia Wilkie as she tossed five innings while giving up three earned runs off seven hits. Wilkie has been consistent : she hasn't given up more than one walk in five consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Addison Queen was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Riley Sullivan, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-3.

Venice was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .393. They are a perfect 7-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.

Venice has been performing well recently as they've won seven of their last nine matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-3 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.8 runs over those games. Bishop Kenny is on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-9.

Venice has already played their next game, a 12-1 win against West Port on the 29th. As for Bishop Kenny, they also didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-7 defeat against Charlotte on the 28th.
