Preview: Ocoee Knights vs. Timber Creek Wolves
Ocoee has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will square off against the Timber Creek Wolves at 7:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams were dealt some close losses in their previous games and are determined not to let this one get away.
Last Friday, it was a hard-fought matchup, but Ocoee had to settle for a 54-51 defeat against Evans.
Despite the defeat, Ocoee had strong showings from Justin Smith, who scored 12 points along with nine rebounds, and Justynn Thomas, who scored 11 points. Those nine rebounds set a new season-high mark for him. The team also got some help courtesy of Andreas Smith, who scored six points along with nine rebounds.
Meanwhile, this season hasn't been kind to Timber Creek, who are still winless after their eighth matchup. They fell just short of Astronaut by a score of 48-45. While losing is never fun, Timber Creek can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 672nd, while Astronaut is ranked 281st).
Ocoee's loss dropped their record down to 5-4. As for Timber Creek, their defeat was their third straight on the road, which bumped their record down to 0-8.
Everything went Ocoee's way against Timber Creek in their previous matchup back in November of 2022 as Ocoee made off with a 70-46 victory. With Ocoee ahead 45-21 at the half, the match was all but over already.
