Preview: Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights vs. Amelia Academy Patriots
The Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot Knights will be playing at home against the Amelia Academy Patriots at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Given that both teams suffered a loss in their last game, they both have a little extra motivation heading into this match.
After a string of three wins, Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's good fortune finally ran out on Friday. They took a hard 47-29 fall against Grace Christian School.
The loss doesn't tell the whole story though, as several players had good games. One of the most active was Charlie Potter, who dropped a double-double on 11 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Lily Hickey, who scored four points along with five rebounds.
Meanwhile, sadly, Amelia Academy is still looking for their first win of the season after 12 games. They took a 38-30 hit to the loss column at the hands of Tidewater Academy on Tuesday.
Isabella Arbitelle put forth a good effort for the losing side as she scored 21 points along with six steals and two blocks. That was a full 70% of Amelia Academy's points, marking the tenth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points.
Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's loss dropped their record down to 9-13. As for Amelia Academy, their loss was their tenth straight on the road dating back to last season, which dropped their record down to 0-12.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 36.1 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Amelia Academy struggles in that department as they've been averaging 27 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Everything went Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot's way against Amelia Academy in their previous meeting back in January as Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot made off with a 46-26 win. Will Blessed Sacrament-Huguenot repeat their success, or does Amelia Academy have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
