Softball Game Preview: Cypress Ranch Mustangs vs. Klein Bearkats

For the second straight game, Cypress Ranch will face off against Klein. The Mustangs will square off against the Bearkats on Saturday. The last four games Cypress Ranch has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one.

Cypress Ranch heads in on the heels of a playoff matchup on Thursday. They fell just short of Klein by a score of 3-1. That's two games in a row now that the Mustangs have lost by exactly two runs.

For Klein's part, Madilyn Schultz made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out 11 batters over seven innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. Schultz has been consistent for a while: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 12 consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one triple and one run. That triple marked the first that she has hit this season.

In other batting news, Megan Meinhardt was excellent, going 2-for-3 with one run, one double, and one RBI.

Klein is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 18-10 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 1.8 runs on average over those games. As for Cypress Ranch, their defeat dropped their record down to 18-9.
