Soccer Game Preview: Rivers vs. Lawrence Academy

The Rivers Red Wings will head out on the road to square off against the Lawrence Academy Spartans at 3:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Lawrence Academy took a loss in their last matchup and will be looking to turn the tables on Rivers, who comes in off a win.

Rivers' defense heads into the match hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Saturday. They put the hurt on St. Mark's with a sharp 3-0 win. Rivers haven't had any issues with St. Mark's recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive victory against them.

Meanwhile, Saturday just wasn't the day for Lawrence Academy's offense. They lost 6-0 to Noble & Greenough on Saturday. While losing is never fun, Lawrence Academy can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Massachusetts soccer rankings (they are ranked 47th, while Noble & Greenough are ranked third).

Lawrence Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 7-7-1. As for Rivers, their win bumped their record up to 7-5-2.

Everything went Rivers' way against Lawrence Academy in their previous matchup back in October of 2024, as Rivers made off with a 5-1 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Red Wings since the team won't have the home-pitch advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
