Basketball Recap: Silliman Institute Comes Up Short

It was a proper cat-fight when Silliman Institute challenged Brookhaven Academy on Tuesday. The Silliman Institute Wildcats lost 75-54 to the Brookhaven Academy Cougars. Sadly, that's the second time they've come up short against the Wildcats this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 57-40 back in January.

Despite the loss, Silliman Institute still got an impressive performance from Katie Ryan Dawson, who dropped a double-double on 25 points and ten rebounds. Dawson is also crushing it when it comes to steals: she's grabbed at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Carlie Dawson, who dropped a double-double on ten points and ten boards.

Even though they lost, Silliman Institute smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least ten offensive boards in six consecutive matches.

Silliman Institute has traveled a rocky road recently having lost five of their last six contests, which put a noticeable dent in their 12-10 record this season. As for Brookhaven Academy, they have been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six games, which provided a nice bump to their 9-11 record this season.

Silliman Institute didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 57-38 loss against Oak Forest Academy on the 30th. Brookhaven Academy has also already played their next contest, a 50-37 win against Bowling Green on the 30th.
