Basketball Recap: Thomas Jefferson School Takes Loss Despite Strong Efforts from Izzy Pieroni and Josie Meehan

Thomas Jefferson School lost against Rivers of Life Christian back in November of 2023 and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Thursday. The match between the Thomas Jefferson School Titan and the Rivers of Life Christian Eagles didn't end well, with the Thomas Jefferson School Titan falling 42-27. The Titan have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.

Despite the defeat, Thomas Jefferson School had strong showings from Josie Meehan, who posted eight points in addition to six boards and three steals, and Izzy Pieroni, who put up nine points along with seven rebounds and six steals. Pieroni is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed five or more in the last five games she's played.

Even though they lost, Thomas Jefferson School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 23 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Rivers of Life Christian got their victory on the backs of several key players, but it was Ali Thompson out in front who had 21 points. That makes it three consecutive games in which Thompson has scored at least a third of Rivers of Life Christian's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Hailey Henrichs, who scored 12 points.

Thomas Jefferson School's record now sits at 3-9. As for Rivers of Life Christian, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

Thomas Jefferson School will have a little extra prep time after the loss as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Crosspoint Christian at 4:30 p.m. on February 11th. Thomas Jefferson School is facing Crosspoint Christian at the right time seeing as Crosspoint Christian is stuck on a three-game losing streak. Rivers of Life Christian does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
