Hopewell-Loudon won the last time they faced Columbian and things went their way on Saturday too. The Chieftains narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Tornadoes 3-1.
Araceli Velasquez spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on six hits and racked up six Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than one walk in eight consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, Sidney Brickner was excellent, going 2-for-4 with one stolen base, two RBI, and one run.
