Volleyball Game Preview: St. Ignatius Wildcats vs. Thomas Worthington CARDINALS

The St. Ignatius Wildcats are taking a road trip to face off against the Thomas Worthington CARDINALS at 2:00 p.m. on Saturday. St. Ignatius is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.

St. Ignatius is coming in fresh off a high-stakes matchup with another one of Ohio's top teams: Jackson, who was ranked 14th at the time (St. Ignatius was ranked first). The Wildcats walked away with a 3-1 victory over the Polar Bears on Thursday.

Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-23, 22-25, 25-16, 25-21.

Cristian Aguirre was the offensive standout of the contest as he had 11 digs and two assists. That's the most digs he has posted over his last eight matches. Andrew Brobbey also deserves some recognition as he had his first block of the season.

Meanwhile, Thomas Worthington had already won four in a row and they went ahead and made it five on Thursday. They blew past the Warhawks 3-0.

The match finished with set scores of 25-10, 25-16, 25-14.

Thomas Worthington's win was their 11th straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 6-1. As for St. Ignatius, their victory bumped their record up to 10-0.

St. Ignatius took their win against Thomas Worthington in their previous meeting back in March of 2024 by a conclusive 3-0 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Wildcats since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
