Softball Recap: Tyler Gets the Win

Tyler came out on top against Wirt County on Friday thanks in part to the team's impressive four-run fifth inning. The Knights skirted past the Tigers 6-5. That's two games straight that the Knights have won by just one run.

Isabella Pratt spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered five earned (and one unearned) runs on seven hits and racked up ten Ks. Those ten strikeouts set a new season-high mark for her.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Stevie Torman, who went 2-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

The victory made it two in a row for Tyler and bumps their season record up to 7-15. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 7.5 runs over those games. As for Wirt County, they have been struggling recently as they've lost six of their last seven matchups. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-12 record this season.

Tyler will be playing at home against Valley at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Wirt County, they will square off against Calhoun at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Red Devils have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 10.79 runs per game on average), something the Tigers will no doubt try to take advantage of.
