Football Recap: West-Oak Piles Up the Points Against Greenwood Christian

West-Oak owes their defense a big pat on the back after their performance on Friday. They claimed a resounding 27-0 victory over the Greenwood Christian Hawks. Considering the Warriors have won three matchups by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.

West-Oak got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was James Coltrane out in front who rushed for 150 yards and one touchdown. The Warriors are undefeated when Coltrane posts 80 or more rushing yards, but 1-2 otherwise. The team also got some help courtesy of Harry Burgess, who rushed for 90 yards and one TD on only six carries.

They were just one part of a punishing run game: West-Oak was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 343 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.

The victory made it two in a row for West-Oak and bumps their season record up to 4-2. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 31.5 points over those games. As for Greenwood Christian, they moved to 5-2 with that loss, which also ended their three-game winning streak.

Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming contests. West-Oak will head out to face off against Belton-Honea Path at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. The Warriors will need to watch out since the Bears have now posted at least 31 points every time they've taken the field this season. As for Greenwood Christian, they will have a little extra prep time after the defeat as they won't be playing again for a while. They'll take on Thomas Sumter Academy at 7:30 p.m. on October 10.
