Baseball Recap: Exeter Triumphs

On Saturday Exeter's undefeated season almost came to an end. They had just enough and edged out the Sunnyside Wildcats 3-1. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Monarchs have posted since April 30, 2025.

The team relied heavily on Cade McElmoyl, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Hernandez, who went a perfect 2-for-2 with two RBI.

Exeter's victory bumped their record up to 5-0-1. As for Sunnyside, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 1-4.

Looking ahead, Exeter will host Tulare Union at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Sunnyside, they are taking a road trip to take on Sanger at 3:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The Apaches' pitching crew has only allowed 1.3 runs per game this season, so the Wildcats' hitters will have their work cut out for them.
