Baseball Recap: Glenbard South Comes Up Short

If Glenbard South was feeling good fresh off their 7-1 takedown of Elgin on Thursday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Raiders fell just short of the Glenbard West Hilltoppers by a score of 6-5 on Friday. The Raiders were given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Hilltoppers apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in May of 2024.

Glenbard South got a good showing from Lucas Wilder, who pitched four innings while giving up just one earned run off three hits. That's the fewest earned runs Wilder has allowed since back in April.

At the plate, Tommy Burke was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with one triple, one run, and one RBI. That triple marked the first that he has hit this season.

Glenbard South's loss dropped their record down to 15-17. As for Glenbard West, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-17 record this season.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Glenbard South will challenge Elmwood Park at 4:30 p.m. on Monday. As for Glenbard West, they will take on Leyden at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Hilltoppers are on a three-game streak of home wins, the Eagles a four-game streak of away wins, meaning someone's leaving a streak behind.
