Basketball Recap: Conemaugh Valley Takes a Loss

If Conemaugh Valley was riding high fresh off their 76-40 takedown of Purchase Line last Monday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The match between the Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays and the Windber Ramblers didn't end well, with the Conemaugh Valley Blue Jays falling 78-64. The result was an unpleasant reminder to the Blue Jays of the 66-40 loss they experienced in the pair's previous head-to-head fixture back in January of 2023.

When it comes to explaining why Conemaugh Valley lost on Thursday, don't look at Jeremy Dietz. Despite the final result, he went 6-for-15 to rack up 25 points and seven rebounds. Dietz's evening made it five games in a row in which he has scored at least 22 points. The team also got some help courtesy of Jaylen Henry, who posted 14 points.

Even though they lost, Conemaugh Valley smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive rebounds in four consecutive games.

Windber had a senior duo take command as Grady Klosky went 13-for-21 on his way to 32 points and eight boards and Evan Brady almost dropped a triple-double with 20 points, nine rebounds, and ten assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Klosky has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Dylan Woodruff, who scored nine points.

Conemaugh Valley's defeat dropped their record down to 12-10. As for Windber, they have been performing well recently as they've won eight of their last ten contests, which provided a nice bump to their 13-6 record this season.

Conemaugh Valley does not have any more games scheduled as of now. As for Windber, they didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next match, a 53-39 loss against Portage on the 10th.
