Carthage has gone a perfect 3-0 against Pittsburg recently and they'll look to pad the win column further on Thursday. The Bulldogs will head out to take on the Pirates at 7:00 p.m. Carthage is currently enjoying a perfect season and no doubt wants to keep things rolling.
If Carthage beats Pittsburg with 56 points on Thursday, it's going to be the team's new lucky number: they've won their past two contests with that exact score. The Bulldogs claimed a resounding 56-8 victory over Brownsboro. The Bulldogs pushed the score to 56-0 by the end of the third, a deficit the Bears cut but never quite recovered from.

Carthage's win on Friday was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Kj Edwards, who rushed for 217 yards and two touchdowns on only 11 carries. Edwards has been hot recently, having posted two or more rushing touchdowns the last four times he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jett Surratt, who threw for 251 yards and five TDs while picking up 11.4 yards per attempt.
They were just one part of a punishing run game: Carthage was unstoppable on the ground and finished the game with 344 rushing yards. That's the most rushing yards they've managed all season.
On the other side of the ball, a lot of the credit has to go to Carthage's defense and their five sacks. Zay Owens refused to say out of the backfield, picking up two sacks all by himself. Carthage got some further help from Owens: he picked up two sacks and made seven total tackles (3.0 for loss).
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Pittsburg). They blew past Spring Hill 52-7 on Friday. The final result isn't all that surprising considering the Pirates' considerable advantage in MaxPreps' Texas football rankings (they are ranked 307th, while the Panthers are ranked 807th).
Carthage better keep an eye on Lane Hall. He was instrumental in Pittsburg's win, rushing for 85 yards and three scores. Those three rushing touchdowns gave Hall a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Kord Johnson, who threw for 100 yards and one touchdown on perfect 6-for-6 passing.
Carthage's record now sits at 10-0. As for Pittsburg, their record is now 7-3.
Everything came up roses for Carthage against Pittsburg in their previous matchup back in September of 2023, as the squad secured a 56-7 win. In that game, the Bulldogs amassed a halftime lead of 42-0, an impressive feat they'll look to repeat on Thursday.
