Football Game Preview: Southern Lab Kittens vs. Madison Prep Academy

Southern Lab is 0-5 against Madison Prep Academy since September of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Kittens will welcome Madison Prep Academy at 7:00 p.m.

Southern Lab is headed into the game having just suffered their biggest defeat since October 18, 2024 on Thursday. They were dealt a 41-14 loss at the hands of Denham Springs. While losing is never fun, the Kittens can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Louisiana football rankings (they are ranked 145th, while the Yellowjackets are ranked 48th).

Meanwhile, Madison Prep Academy blew past Parkview Baptist, posting a 55-3 win. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Madison Prep Academy.

Southern Lab better keep an eye on J'On Profit. He was instrumental in Madison Prep Academy's win, rushing for 169 yards and two scores on only ten carries. Profit's longest rush was for an impressive 61 yards, which helps to explain his lofty yards per carry total. Another player making a difference was Landon Johnson, who gained 238 total yards and a touchdown.

One reason for the win was Madison Prep Academy's imposing defense, which managed to get into the backfield for 5.5 sacks. Parkview Baptist's QB won't forget Darius Mack anytime soon given he sacked him 2.5 times. Mack is also on a roll when it comes to total tackles, as he's now made five or more in each of the last three games he's played. Another thorn in Parkview Baptist's side was Cannon Walker, who picked up a sack, forced one fumble, and made nine total tackles (3.0 for loss).

Madison Prep Academy's victory bumped their record up to 4-1. As for Southern Lab, their defeat dropped their record down to 3-3.

Southern Lab came up short against Madison Prep Academy when the teams last played back in October of 2024, falling 36-26. Thankfully for the Kittens, Alfred Mcknight (who rushed for 192 yards and three TDs while picking up 8.3 yards per carry) won't be suiting up this time.
