Northview is a perfect 10-0 against Baker since April of 2017 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Thursday. The Chiefs will host the Gators at 6:30 p.m.
Last Tuesday, Northview didn't have quite enough to beat T.R. Miller and fell 3-2. The Chiefs have struggled against the Tigers recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost meeting.
Jackson Bridges was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he struck out seven batters over five innings while giving up just two earned (and one unearned) runs off four hits. What's more, he gave up only two walks, the fewest he's had since back in March.
At the plate, Northview saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Grayden Sheffield, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Baker was not the first on the board last Tuesday, but they got there more often. They skirted past Santa Rosa Christian 6-4.
Baker also got a great performance from Parker Slade as he struck out ten batters over 6.2 innings while giving up just two earned (and two unearned) runs off three hits.
On the hitting side, Baker let Wyatt Straight and Kase Armstrong run wild. Straight scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-4, while Armstrong scored two runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4.
Northview's defeat dropped their record down to 8-11. As for Baker, they are on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four matches. That's provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
The batters for both teams will have to hit smart on Thursday as both have some strikeout artists on the roster. Northview has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 7.2 strikeouts per game. However, it's not like Baker struggles in that department as they've been averaging 7 strikeouts. Considering how easily both teams rack up Ks, the hitters on both teams better bring their A-game into this one.
Northview took their win against Baker in their previous matchup back in May of 2022 by a conclusive 10-0 score. Do the Chiefs have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Gators turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
