Basketball Recap: London Thomas Key Part of Team Effort in Raiders Win

St. Thomas Aquinas's game on Friday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Tuesday. They walked away with a 51-38 victory over the Mater Lakes Academy Bears. The Raiders haven't had any issues with the Bears recently, as the game was their third consecutive win against them.

Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead St. Thomas Aquinas to victory, but perhaps none more so than London Thomas, who went 7-for-17 en route to 24 points along with eight boards and three steals. What's more, Thomas also posted a 50% three-point shooting accuracy, which is the highest she's achieved since back in December of 2024. Catalina LaFreniere was another key player, putting up nine points in addition to seven rebounds and six assists.

Despite the loss, Mater Lakes Academy still got an impressive performance from Lorena Fernandez, who posted 11 points and four steals. Another player making a difference was Alessandra Wandembergh, who almost dropped a double-double with nine points and ten boards.

St. Thomas Aquinas' victory bumped their record up to 6-2. As for Mater Lakes Academy, they now have a losing record of 3-4.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. St. Thomas Aquinas and Centennial will compete for holiday cheer at 5:00 p.m. on Monday. The Raiders' defense better be ready for this one: the Eagles have averaged an impressive 61.9 points per game this season. Mater Lakes Academy will take on Northwestern in a holiday battle at 5:00 p.m. on Monday.
