Newburgh Free Academy came out on top against Monroe-Woodbury on Thursday thanks in part to Nick Schmidt's efforts. Schmidt wasn't messing around, getting on base in three of his four plate appearances with two stolen bases, two runs, and one double. The game was his third straight with at least one stolen base.
Schmidt's strong effort led Newburgh Free Academy over Monroe-Woodbury and he'll get a chance to do so again: the teams have a rematch scheduled at 2:30 p.m. on Friday. The Goldbacks are 7-2 against the Crusaders going back to May of 2022, a lead they'll look to extend.
