Softball Recap: Western Tech & Environmental Science Has No Trouble Against Franklin

Western Tech & Environmental Science came out on top against Franklin on Tuesday thanks in part to the team's impressive ten-run first inning. The Wolverines blew past the Indians 18-8. The Wolverines might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won four matches by seven runs or more this season.

The team relied heavily on Juliahna Thomas, who went 5-for-6 with one home run, six RBI, and two runs. Those five hits gave her a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Nicole Camacho, who went 4-for-6 with four runs, three doubles, and two RBI.

Western Tech & Environmental Science always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .583. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Franklin only posted an OBP of .314.

Western Tech & Environmental Science's victory ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8. As for Franklin, they have been struggling recently as they've lost seven of their last nine contests. That's put a noticeable dent in their 5-7 record this season.

Western Tech & Environmental Science will host Parkville at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. The Knights have struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 14.1 runs per game on average), something the Wolverines will no doubt try to take advantage of. As for Franklin, they will square off against Patapsco at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday.
