Basketball Recap: Lake Placid Takes a Loss

Lake Placid lost against Avon Park back in January and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Friday. The Lake Placid Dragons came up short against the Avon Park Red Devils, falling 84-63. While losing is never fun, the Dragons can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 524th, while the Red Devils are ranked 199th).

This is the second loss in a row for Lake Placid and nudges their season record down to 2-4. As for Avon Park, their victory was their sixth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 7-1.

Lake Placid will be home for the holidays to greet DeSoto County at 7:30 p.m. on Monday. DeSoto County is strutting in with some offensive muscle as they've averaged 55.3 points per game this season. As for Avon Park, they are taking a road trip to take on Haines City at 8:00 p.m. on Monday. Avon Park knows how to get points on the board -- the squad has finished with 55 points or more in their past eight matchups -- so hopefully Haines City likes a good challenge.
