Baseball Recap: Tradition Prep Gets the Win

Tradition Prep posted their closest win since April 19, 2024 on Tuesday. They skirted past the Westwood Panthers 6-4. That's more bragging rights for the Pirates, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Pablo Almonte was a major factor while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Almonte was also solid in the batter's box, going 1-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Almonte wasn't the only one making solid contact as six players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Zayden Hernandez, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The victory made it two in a row for Tradition Prep and bumps their season record up to 3-4. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.0 runs over those games. As for Westwood, they dropped their record down to 1-7 with the loss, which was their third straight at home.

Coming up, Tradition Prep will welcome South Fork at 3:30 p.m. on Monday. South Fork's pitching crew has only allowed 3.2 runs per game this season, so Tradition Prep's hitters will have their work cut out for them. As for Westwood, they wasted no time getting back out on the field and have already played their next match, a 9-3 defeat against St. Edward's on the 6th.
