Basketball Recap: Mountain View Comes Up Short

Mountain View was not able to break out of their rough patch on Tuesday as the team picked up their tenth straight loss. They were dealt a 53-26 defeat at the hands of the Northridge Grizzlies. While losing is never fun, the Mountain Lions can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Colorado basketball rankings (they are ranked 235th, while the Grizzlies are ranked 92nd).

Mountain View lost despite a true team effort on offense. The best among them was Izzy Tonniges, who posted seven points and five boards. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in shooting accuracy (60%). Mckayla Bradley was another key player, putting up eight points and six rebounds.

Northridge found their leader in sophomore Sophia Carbajal, who dropped a double-double with 22 points and 17 boards. Carbajal has been hot for a while, having posted ten or more rebounds the last 24 times she's played. Another player making a difference was Clementine Darnell, who had nine points in addition to seven boards and three steals.

Mountain View's loss dropped their record down to 5-17. As for Northridge, they are on a roll lately: they've won five of their last six matchups, which provided a massive bump to their 13-8 record this season.

Looking ahead, Mountain View will take on Greeley Central at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Northridge, they will square off against Severance at 5:30 p.m. on Thursday. Severance has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
