Basketball Recap: Hearne Extends Winning Streak to Eight

Hearne entered their tilt with Bremond on Tuesday with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. They came out on top against the Bremond Tigers by a score of 53-42. That's the second time they've managed to beat them this season, as they also won 68-63 back in January.

Hearne's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Dereion Mitchell, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 14 rebounds. The dominant performance also gave Mitchell a new career-high in blocks (eight). Cristian Robinson was another key player, putting up 20 points and six steals.

Hearne smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 17 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards every time they've taken the court this season.

Several Tigers players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jeramiah Morgan, who almost dropped a double-double on 16 points and nine boards. Morgan has been hot for a while, having also posted two or more steals the last 12 times he's played. Jaden Scott also deserves some recognition as he posted his first block of the season.

Hearne's win was their fourth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 23-4. The wins came thanks in part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 68.8 points over those games. As for Bremond, their loss dropped their record down to 8-7.

Hearne wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next match, a 46-38 defeat against Mumford on the 7th. As for Bremond, they have also already played their next contest, a 65-56 victory against Iola on the 7th.
