Baseball Recap: Waterville Snaps Seven-Game Streak of Losses on the Road

The third road game was the charm for Waterville, as they earned their first away win of the season. They came out on top against the Oceanside Mariners by a score of 9-6 on Friday. This was payback for the Panthers, who suffered an 11-4 loss the last time these two teams met.

Garrett Gendreau spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered four earned (and two unearned) runs on eight hits.

At the plate, Felix Chapa was incredible, going 3-for-4 with three runs, three RBI, and one stolen base. Those RBI were his first of the season. The team also got some help courtesy of Derek Couture, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI.

Waterville's victory ended a seven-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 3-4. As for Oceanside, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 5-4.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Waterville will challenge Leavitt at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Oceanside, they will square off against Belfast at 4:00 p.m. on Monday.
