Baseball Game Preview: Clemente Wildcats vs. Chicago Academy Cougars

The Clemente Wildcats will square off against the Chicago Academy Cougars at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Clemente will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

Clemente took a six-run defeat the last time they faced off against Northside, but this time they managed to keep it close and that made all the difference. The Wildcats had just enough and edged out the Mustangs 4-3.

Meanwhile, Chicago Academy scored the most runs they've had this season on Monday, but it wasn't enough. They fell 19-14 to Steinmetz College Prep.

Isaiah Mejia was cooking despite his team's loss, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two RBI. He continues to improve, besting his previous run total in each of the last three games he's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Alessandro Vera, who went 2-for-4 with two runs and one triple.

Clemente pushed their record up to 10-7 with the win, which was their sixth straight at home. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.3 runs on average over those games. As for Chicago Academy, their loss dropped their record down to 1-10.

Clemente came out on top in a nail-biter against Chicago Academy in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 11-9. Will the Wildcats repeat their success, or do the Cougars have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
