Baseball Game Preview: Roosevelt Mustangs vs. Centennial Huskies

Roosevelt is 2-8 against Centennial since April of 2022 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Monday. The Mustangs will look to defend their home field against the Huskies at 4:00 p.m. Roosevelt's pitching crew has only allowed 3.5 runs per game this season, so Centennial's hitters will have their work cut out for them.

Roosevelt's usually-dominant pitching crew will be looking to make up for Thursday's struggle, when Santiago hitters got past them. The Mustangs fell 10-5 to the Sharks on Thursday. The Mustangs' defeat continues a trend for the squad, making it three in a row.

On Thursday fans watched as two of the best teams in the nation hit the field. Centennial blew past Norco 8-1. The Huskies not only won on Thursday, but they posted their biggest win since March 18th.

Centennial got a great performance from Joseph Malki as he struck out nine batters over six innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. Those nine strikeouts gave Malki a new career-high.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Chris Chavez, who scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in RBI (two). Michael Nonis was another key player, scoring two runs while getting on base in all three of his plate appearances.

Centennial's win bumped their record up to 12-4. As for Roosevelt, their loss dropped their record down to 10-9.
