Baseball Recap: Northgate Flames vs. Neshannock Lancers
Northgate had lost three straight at home, but on Wednesday they dropped their record down to 4-13 to make it four. They lost 12-1 to the Neshannock Lancers. Unfortunately, that's the second time they've come up short against the Lancers this season, as they also lost their prior matchup 14-2 on Monday.
Chris Crawford made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 2-for-3 with one home run and two RBI.
As for Neshannock, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. The team dominated over that stretch too, winning by an average of 10 runs.
On Neshannock's side, Jackson Latta looked comfortable as he pitched two innings while giving up no earned runs or hits. Latta has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than one walk any time he's pitched this season.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Matt Pallerino, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave him a new career-high. Lucca Mezzanotte also deserves some recognition as he scored his first run of the season.
Northgate didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next contest, a 9-4 defeat against Hillel Academy on the 1st. As for Neshannock, they have also already played their next matchup, a 13-0 win against Varsity Opponent on the 30th.
