Baseball Game Preview: Clark Chargers vs. Legacy Longhorns

Clark is 0-5 against Legacy since March of 2019 but things could change on Friday. The Chargers will venture away from home to face off against the Longhorns at 4:00 p.m. Clark is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 7.7 runs per game this season.

Clark heads in on the heels of a playoff game on Wednesday. They fell just short of Bonanza by a score of 5-4.

Kellen Anunson was huge no matter where he played even without the win. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run over seven innings pitched. Anunson was also big at the plate, going 4-for-6 with one RBI.

In other batting news, Drew Hernandez made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 4-for-6 with one run and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Legacy faced Sierra Vista in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Longhorns fell just short of the Mountain Lions by a score of 1-0. Considering the last time the Longhorns couldn't score was back in March, the team can't take the result too hard.

Legacy saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Easton Lake, who went 1-for-3 with one double.

Clark's defeat dropped their record down to 17-13. As for Legacy, the loss snapped their winning streak at four games and leaves them with a 13-14 record.

Friday's match will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Clark hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .317. However, it's not like Legacy struggles in that department as they've averaged .328. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.

Clark might still be hurting after the 13-7 defeat they got from Legacy when the teams last played back in March. Can the Chargers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
