Baseball Game Preview: Morro Bay Pirates vs. Mission Oak Hawks

The Morro Bay Pirates will face off against the Mission Oak Hawks at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday. Both teams are coming into the game red-hot, with Morro Bay sitting on five straight victories and Mission Oak on six.

Morro Bay is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Friday. They won by a run and slipped past Justin Garza 5-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Pirates have posted since April 22nd.

Eli Brown tossed a big game, striking out eight batters over six innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. He has been consistent: he hasn't given up more than two walks in five consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Morro Bay's victory was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Frankie Ainley, who went 2-for-4 with one stolen base and one run.

Meanwhile, it was close, but on Friday Mission Oak sidestepped Fresno for a 4-2 win.

Mission Oak pushed their record up to 17-9-1 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. They've had to fight for that success though, as they only beat their opponents by an average of 1.75 runs across that stretch. As for Morro Bay, their win bumped their record up to 23-6.
