Clarke County picks up seventh straight win at home

Recap: Clarke County Eagles vs. Madison County Mountaineers

Even though the Madison County Mountaineers scored an imposing 55 points on Tuesday, the Clarke County Eagles still came out on top. Clarke County sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with a 58-55 victory over Madison County. The win made it back-to-back wins for Clarke County.

It was another big night for Moses Day, who almost dropped a double-double on 13 points and nine rebounds. Caidan Broy was another key contributor, scoring ten points along with two steals.

Madison County lost despite a true team effort on the offense, the best among them being Max Lohr, who scored six points along with 13 rebounds and five assists. Another player making a difference was Seth McLearen, who scored 13 points along with five assists.

Clarke County pushed their record up to 14-6 with that victory, which was their seventh straight at home. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 62.1 points per game. As for Madison County, their loss ended a six-game streak of away wins and brought them to 14-7.

Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Clarke County won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Luray at 7:30 p.m. on February 7th. Luray will roll in looking for their seventh straight victory, something Clarke County surely won't give up without a fight. As for Madison County, they will be playing at home against Rappahannock County at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Hopefully Madison County focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up 11 on Tuesday.
