Basketball Game Preview: Shead Tigers vs. Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners

Shead is 2-8 against Deer Isle-Stonington since February of 2016 but they'll have a chance to close the gap a little bit on Friday. The Shead Tigers will venture away from home to take on the Deer Isle-Stonington Mariners at 6:30 p.m. Shead will be looking to extend their current five-game winning streak.

On Tuesday, even if it wasn't a dominant performance, Shead beat Jonesport-Beals 53-47.

Meanwhile, Deer Isle-Stonington ended up a good deal behind Jonesport-Beals on Saturday and lost 50-32. The Mariners haven't had much luck with the Royals recently, as the team's come up short the last four times they've met.

Shead pushed their record up to 9-3 with the victory, which was their fourth straight at home. Those victories came thanks to their offensive performance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.8 points per game. As for Deer Isle-Stonington, their loss dropped their record down to 2-11.

Everything came up roses for Shead against Deer Isle-Stonington in their previous matchup two weeks ago, as the squad secured a 58-30 win. The rematch might be a little tougher for Shead since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
