Recap: Freeman Scotties vs. Newport Grizzlies
The Freeman Scotties scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Saturday. They really took it to Newport for the full four quarters, racking up a 74-24 victory at home. With that victory, Freeman brought their scoring average up to 50.4 points per game.
Freeman found their leader in underclassman Taylee Phelps, who scored 34 points along with five rebounds and three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Phelps has scored all season. Avery Boswell was another key contributor, scoring eight points along with 12 rebounds and three steals.
Freeman's victory was their third straight at home, which pushed their record up to 6-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 63.7 points per game. As for Newport, they still haven't won a game yet this season and fell to 0-8.
Freeman will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against Riverside at 7:15 p.m. Riverside will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Washington Rankings (they are ranked 272nd, while Freeman is ranked 97th). As for Newport, they will head out on the road to face off against Selkirk at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday.
