Basketball Recap: Andrews Osborne Academy Takes a Loss

Andrews Osborne Academy was not able to break out of their rough patch on Saturday as the team picked up their seventh straight loss. They were dealt a 57-16 defeat at the hands of the Canton Central Catholic Crusaders. The Phoenix were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 39-6.

Despite the loss, Andrews Osborne Academy saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Alejandra Gil posted nine points and four steals. That was a full 56.3% of Andrews Osborne Academy's points, marking the third time in a row Gil has had more than a third of the team's points. Belen Fueyo Jiminez was another key player, putting up three points.

Andrews Osborne Academy's defeat dropped their record down to 5-11. As for Canton Central Catholic, they have been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 15-8 record this season.
