Basketball Recap: East Takes a Loss

It's hard to turn regular season success into postseason wins, a fact East can now relate to. They lost 76-50 to the Southwestern Trojans on Thursday. The Panthers were in a tough position after the first half, with the score already sitting at 44-19.

Despite the loss, East saw an underclassman step up: sophomore Tendai Furbert dropped a double-double with 27 points and 11 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Furbert has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Justin Nichols, who posted nine points.

Even though they lost, East smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 20 offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive rebounds in 14 consecutive contests.

East has been struggling recently as they've lost four of their last five games. That's put a noticeable dent in their 7-14 record this season. Southwestern's victory bumped their record up to 9-12.

As of now, neither East nor Southwestern have any future games scheduled.
