Softball Game Preview: Pacifica Mariners vs. Cypress Centurions

The Pacifica Mariners will square off against the Cypress Centurions at 3:15 p.m. on Thursday. Neither of those teams managed to put together many runs in their previous contests, so the offenses might be a little more motivated than usual.

Pacifica lost 7-1 to La Habra on Tuesday. The Mariners have struggled against the Highlanders recently, as the game was their third consecutive lost matchup.

Kenzie Bledl was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks any time she's pitched this season.

At the plate, Pacifica saw six different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Mikella Carey, who went 1-for-3 with one run.

Meanwhile, Tuesday just wasn't the day for Cypress' offense. They fell just short of El Modena by a score of 2-0 on Tuesday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Centurions have suffered since March 7th.

Chach Stamper spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned (and one unearned) run on five hits.

Cypress' loss dropped their record down to 15-10. As for Pacifica, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 15-10.

Pacifica came out on top in a nail-biter against Cypress when the teams last played two weeks ago, sneaking past 4-3. Will the Mariners repeat their success, or do the Centurions have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
