Hartfield Academy faced Presbyterian Christian in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Thursday. The Hawks were the clear victors by an 8-1 margin over the Bobcats. The Hawks might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 16 matchups by six runs or more this season.

JP Abt made a splash no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over six innings pitched. Abt was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs and four RBI while going 2-for-4. Those two home runs gave him a new career-high.

Abt wasn't the only one making solid contact as four players wound up with at least one hit. One of them was Cooper Howard, who got on base in all four of his plate appearances with one home run. That home run marked the first that Howard has launched this season. Another was Graham Jackson, who went 2-for-4 with one run and one double.

Hartfield Academy lost a few balls and finished the game with three home runs. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Presbyterian Christian didn't launched any home runs.

Hartfield Academy pushed their record up to 24-4 with the win, which was their 11th straight on the road. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.6 runs over those games. As for Presbyterian Christian, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 17-12.

The teams didn't have to wait long for a rematch: Hartfield Academy beat the Bobcats by a score of 3-0 later that day.
