Softball Recap: Monday's Win Is First Christian's Eighth in Last Nine Outings

While First Christian's win against Northside Christian Academy wasn't quite the blowout it was the last time the pair played, they still came out on top. The Lions sure made it a nail-biter, but they managed to escape with an 8-6 victory over Northside Christian Academy on Monday. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Lions have posted since May 6, 2024.

Victoria Loehr spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered six runs (all of which were unearned) on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in six consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Corie Wheeler was incredible, going a perfect 4-for-4 with five stolen bases, two runs, and one double. That's the most hits she has posted since back in March of 2024.

First Christian has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-4-1 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 2.9 runs on average over those games. As for Northside Christian Academy, their defeat ended a seven-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 10-2-1.

As of now, neither First Christian nor Northside Christian Academy have any future games scheduled.
