Baseball Game Preview: Averill Park Warriors vs. South Glens Falls Bulldogs

The Averill Park Warriors will take on the South Glens Falls Bulldogs at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. The two teams have allowed few runs on average (Averill Park 3.5, South Glens Falls 1.2) so any runs scored will be well earned.

For whatever reason, it's the away team that's had the advantage when Averill Park and Saratoga Springs meet (four straight games heading into this one) and that held true again on Friday. The Warriors narrowly escaped with a victory as the squad sidled past the Blue Streaks 6-4. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest win the Warriors have posted since April 7th.

The scorekeeper got an easy start on Monday as neither South Glens Falls nor Broadalbin-Perth made it on the board until the fifth inning. The Bulldogs never let the Patriots get on the board and left with a 3-0 victory.

Grady Bammert tossed a big game, not allowing a single earned run over five innings pitched.

At the plate, the team relied heavily on Ethan Ford, who went 2-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base.

The win got Averill Park back to even at 5-5-1. As for South Glens Falls, their victory bumped their record up to 7-2.

Averill Park came out on top in a nail-biter against South Glens Falls when the teams last played back in May of 2024, sneaking past 4-2. Will the Warriors repeat their success, or do the Bulldogs have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
