Baseball Recap: Central Minnesota Christian Sets Scoring Season-High Against Lakeview

Winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Central Minnesota Christian). Their pitcher stepped up to hand the Lakeview Lakers a 10-0 shutout on Monday. The Bluejays haven't had any issues with the Lakers recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Not much got past Wesley Fussy, who gave up just a hit and racked up 12 Ks to keep Lakeview off the board. Fussy has become a key player for Central Minnesota Christian: the team is 3-1 when he allows at most three hits, but 1-6 otherwise.

At the plate, Central Minnesota Christian let Isaiah Swart and Jake Ver Steeg run wild. Swart went 2-for-4 with two stolen bases, one run, and one double, while Ver Steeg went 1-for-4 with two runs, one stolen base, and two RBI. Central Minnesota Christian is 2-1 when Ver Steeg posts two or more runs, but 2-6 otherwise. Another player making a difference was Carson Meyer, who got on base in three of his four plate appearances with two runs and one stolen base.

Central Minnesota Christian's win bumped their record up to 4-7. As for Lakeview, they are on a 17-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-11.
