Softball Recap: Lecanto Beats Dunnellon for Their Fourth Straight Victory

Lecanto won the last time they faced Dunnellon and things went their way on Thursday too. The Lecanto Panthers skirted past the Dunnellon Tigers 4-2. Winning may never get old, but the Panthers sure are getting used to it with their fourth in a row.

Abigail Males spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered just two earned runs on four hits and racked up 14 Ks. She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't tossed less than 11 strikeouts in four consecutive appearances.

On the hitting side, Lecanto saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Shawna Griffin, who scored a run while going 2-for-3.

The victory got Lecanto back to even at 6-6. As for Dunnellon, they are on a three-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 4-6.

Looking ahead, Lecanto is taking a road trip to square off against The Villages Charter at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. The last three games The Villages Charter has played have been within two runs, so don't be surprised if it's a close one. As for Dunnellon, they will challenge Eastside at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Eastside has struggled to contain batters this season (they've allowed 13 runs per game on average), something Dunnellon will no doubt try to take advantage of.
