High school girls basketball players of the year in all 50 states

The 2019-20 high school girls basketball season concluded earlier than expected but at least 30 states crowned state champions and postseason honors are certainly in order.

We're doing our part by recognizing a player of the year in all 50 states and the District of Columbia.

Team success, individual statistics and local, regional and national honors were among the factors considered in deciding on our POYs.

The postseason awards continue Thursday as we roll out our annual MaxPreps All-American Team. Alabama
Sarah Ashlee Barker, Sr., Spain Park (Hoover)
Three-time All-State pick, averaged 23.2 points, 9.9 rebounds, 2.7 assists and 1.9 steals per game for Class 7A state champions.



Alaska
Destiny Reimers, Sr., Anchorage Christian (Anchorage)
Lions went 86-2 over the past three years with Reimers in the lineup, including state titles in 2018 and 2019.

Arizona
Alyssa Brown, Jr., Sahuaro (Tucson)
Topped all scorers in the state by nearly 300 points while leading the Cougars to a 28-2 season. Had season highs of 45 points, 19 rebounds, four assists, eight steals and four blocks.

Arkansas
Jersey Wolfenbarger, Jr., Northside (Fort Smith)
A 6-foot-4 point guard, averaged 18.8 points, 6.1 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game.

California
Te-Hina Paopao, Sr., La Jolla Country Day (La Jolla)
Future Oregon Duck compiled impressive stats against that topflight opposition, averaging 22.5 points, 7.9 rebounds and 4.3 assists while making 82 3-pointers on 37 percent shooting.

Colorado
Lauren Betts, So., Grandview (Aurora)
At 6-foot-7, Betts is a name to remember. Averaged 17.8 points, 11.2 rebounds and 3.9 blocked shots per game for 24-3 Wolves, who advanced to the Class 5A state championship game.

Connecticut
Aizhanique Mayo, So., Notre Dame Catholic (Fairfield)
Averaged 19 points per game for the Lancers, who went unbeaten against in-state competition this winter.



Delaware
Allie Kubek, Sr., Sanford (Hockessin)
Swept Player of the Year honors in Delaware after putting up over 20 points per game while leading Sanford to the state semifinals.

District of Columbia
Kiki Rice, So., Sidwell Friends (Washington)
Elite sophomore prospect led Sidwell Friends to DCSAA Class AA title game, pouring in 26.8 points per game to go along with 10.7 rebounds and 4.7 assists.

Florida
Nyla Harris, So., Lake Highland Prep (Orlando)
Produced modest numbers over the course of the season (11.3 points, 6.2 rebounds per game) but turned it on when it mattered most in leading Highlanders to the Class 4A state title.

Georgia
Raven Johnson, Jr., Westlake (Atlanta)
Point guard put up 15.9 points, 5.2 rebounds and 3.9 assists per game while leading Westlake to 30-2 record, AAAAAAA state title and Top 25 national ranking.

Hawaii
Lily Wahinekapu, Jr., 'Iolani (Honolulu)
Tallied 16 points per game while leading Raiders to their second straight Division I state crown. Idaho
Naya Ojukwu, So., Mountain View (Meridian)
Helped Mavericks capture Class 5A state title, leading team in scoring (14.8 points per game) and rebounding (6.7).

Illinois
Angela Dugalic, Sr., Maine West (Des Plaines)
Oregon recruit was the Associated Press Class 4A Player of the Year, leading Maine West to a 30-4 record.



Indiana
Sydney Parrish, Sr., Hamilton Southeastern (Fishers)
Another member of Oregon's No. 1 recruiting class, produced 24.8 points, eight rebounds and 2.4 steals per game for 22-3 Royals.

Iowa
Caitlin Clark, Sr., Dowling Catholic (West Des Moines)
Elite prospect staying home to play for the Iowa Hawkeyes, poured in 33.7 points per game this season.

Kansas
Emily Ryan, Sr., Central Plains (Claflin)
Iowa State signee led a team that broke its own state record for margin of victory (57.4) and points allowed per game (20.2). Central Plains ended the season with a national-best 136 consecutive victories.

Kentucky
Maddie Scherr, Sr., Ryle (Union)
Another Oregon signee, averaged 14.9 points, 7.3 rebounds, 5.7 assists and 2.9 steals per night for the Raiders.

Louisiana
Jerkaila Jordan, Sr., John Curtis Christian (River Ridge, La.)
Tulane signee led team to the Division 1 state championship while averaging 21.7 points, 3.0 assists, 3.0 steals and 2.0 blocks per game.

Maryland
Angel Reese, Sr., St. Frances Academy (Baltimore)
No. 2 prospect in the Class of 2020 produced 18.6 points, 10.2 rebounds and 3.5 assist per game for 24-3 Panthers, who finished the season ranked No. 15 nationally by MaxPreps.

Massachusetts
Michigan
Gabby Elliott, Sr., Edison Academy (Detroit)
Part of a program that has lost two games in the last three years, averaged 22.7 points, nine rebounds and 3.7 assists per game to earn Miss Basketball honors in Michigan.

Minnesota
Paige Bueckers, Sr., Hopkins (Minnetonka)
National Player of the Year candidate ended career on 60-game win streak, averaging 21.4 points, 9.4 assists and five rebounds per game.

Mississippi
Jaccoria Bracey, Sr., Ruleville Central (Ruleville)
Led Tigers to the Region 3A championship game and scored 38 points in the team's loss to Senatobia. Averaged 35 points, 10 rebounds and 6 assists and finished her career with 4,334 points — the 25th highest career total in national history and the fifth-highest in Mississippi history.

Missouri
Priscilla Williams, Sr., Branson
Headed to Syracuse and selected to play in the McDonald's All-American Game, Williams was named All-Class 5 District 11 and averaged 27 points and 11 rebounds per game.



Montana
Kyndall Keller, Sr., Havre
Bid for state championship three-peat cut short due to coronavirus pandemic but Montana commit had a strong senior campaign, posting 18.7 points, 4.3 rebounds and 2.5 steals per game.

Nebraska
Morgan Maly, Sr., Crete
Put up 21.8 points, 8.4 rebounds and three assists per game for Class B state champions. Headed to Creighton.

Nevada
Taylor Bigby, Jr., Centennial (Las Vegas)
On a team with three exceptional seniors, Bigby stood out — and she'll be back next year to try to push Centennial to its seventh straight state title.

New Hampshire
Rebecca Wright, Sr., Lebanon
State’s Miss Basketball put up 22.6 points per game for 19-3 Lebanon, which won the Division II title.

New Jersey
Kylee Watson, Sr., Mainland Regional (Linwood)
Guess where she’s going? You guessed it, another Oregon Duck. Four-time all-area Player of the Year put up around 16 points and 10 rebounds as a senior.

New Mexico
Wisdom Anthony, Fr., Hobbs
Emerged as a team leader throughout the season while averaging 16 points per game, 6.1 rebounds and shooting 35 percent from 3-point range.



New York
Kateri Poole, Sr., South Shore (Brooklyn)
Basketball Coaches Association of New York tabbed her Miss Basketball in New York after putting up around 18 points, six rebounds and five assists per game.

North Carolina
Chyna Cornwell, Sr., Newton-Conover (Newton)
Led Red Devils to the Class 2A state championship game and a 28-2 record. District 11 Player of the Year while averaging 26.2 points, 16.7 rebounds and 1.6 blocks per game.

North Dakota
Reile Payne, Sr., Shanley (Fargo)
Posted 20.4 points and 11.2 rebounds per game en route to North Dakota Miss Basketball honors.

Ohio
Madeline Westbeld, Sr., Fairmont (Kettering)
Notre Dame signee has unrivaled resume — Ohio Ms. Basketball (OPSWA), Ohio D-I Player of the Year, Ohio Gatorade Player of the Year and McDonald's All-American.

Oklahoma
Aaliyah Moore, Jr., Moore
USA Basketball vet and Top 10 junior prospect averaged a double-double (21.9 points, 10.9 rebounds) for 18-win Moore. Oregon
Cameron Brink, Sr., Mountainside (Beaverton)
Stanford signee led third-year school to 19 wins and Class 6A quarterfinals, posting 19.7 points, 13.2 rebounds and 3.1 assists per game.

Pennsylvania
Aislin Malcolm, So., Chartiers Valley (Bridgeville)
Paced unbeaten Chartiers Valley (27-0) with 16.7 points, 4.1 rebounds and 2.1 assists per game. One of five sophomores playing significant minutes for the Colts.



Rhode Island
Jami Hill, So., South Kingstown (Wakefield)
Leading scorer for Division I champions (12.5 points per game), came up big in championship game win over defending champion La Salle with 17.

South Carolina
Loyal McQueen, Sr., Wilson (Florence)
Monster senior season included a 51-point game and averages of 26.7 points, 4.3 assists and 3.9 rebounds per game for 22-4 Tigers.

South Dakota
Emma Ronsiek, Sr., O'Gorman (Sioux Falls)
Creighton signee led O’Gorman to a 20-0 regular season record and is the school’s all-time leading scorer.

Tennessee
Treasure Hunt, Sr., Hamilton Heights Christian Academy (Chattanooga, Tenn.)
Coached by her mother at Hamilton Heights, versatile Kentucky signee helped Hawks go 25-1 and earn No. 2 final national ranking from MaxPreps.

Texas
Deja Kelly, Sr., Duncanville
The most valuable player of the Class 6A tournament after leading Panthers to a state title over Cypress Creek, Kelly averaged 24 points per game, including 23 in the final.

Utah
Timea Gardiner, So., Fremont (Plain City)
Elite sophomore prospect led Silverwolves to Class 6A state title and 24-3 record, posting 14.7 points, 6.7 rebounds and 2.3 assists per game.



Vermont
Olivia Rockwood, Sr., Windsor
Maine signee was on the verge of eclipsing 2,000 career points when season was abruptly ended due to coronavirus outbreak. Averaged over 22 points per game this season.

Virginia
Aziaha James, Jr., Princess Anne (Virginia Beach)
After the tragic death of her older brother, James led Princess Anne (26-1) to a region title and the state semifinals. Averaged 18.7 points and 2.7 assists per game.

Washington
Hailey Van Lith, Sr., Cashmere
Bulldogs were upset in 1A state championship but Louisville signee had season for the ages, averaging 33.8 points, 9.5 rebounds and 4.7 assists per game.

West Virginia
Bailee Adkins, Sr., St. Joseph Central (Huntington)
Dayton signee posted 10.3 points, 7.3 assists, 4.3 rebounds and 4.3 steals per game for 22-1 Irish.

Wisconsin
Lexi Donarski, Sr., Aquinas (La Crosse)
Iowa State signee and Top 20 recruit averaged 24.3 points per game for 25-1 Aquinas.

Wyoming
Ky Buell, Sr., East (Cheyenne)
Averaged 22.5 points per game while leading East to a 23-3 record and Class 4A state championship.
