Volleyball Recap: Sprayberry Yellow Jackets vs. Mt. Bethel Christian Academy Eagles
If Sprayberry was feeling good fresh off their 3-0 takedown of Pebblebrook on Tuesday, their most recent game may have dampened their spirits a bit. The Yellow Jackets fell just short of the Mt. Bethel Christian Academy Eagles by a score of 2-1 on Thursday. The Yellow Jackets have struggled against the Eagles recently, as the game was their eighth consecutive lost matchup.
In an exciting match in which no team claimed back-to-back wins, Sprayberry sadly wound up on the wrong side. The match finished with set scores of 25-19, 23-25, 15-11.
Mt. Bethel Christian Academy found their leader in sophomore Bree Benich, who had 21 digs and five aces. Those five aces set a new season-high mark for Benich. Mary Clare Monahan also deserves some recognition as she had her first block of the season.
Sprayberry's defeat dropped their record down to 2-2. As for Mt. Bethel Christian Academy, the win made it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-5.
Coincidentally, Sprayberry and Mt. Bethel Christian Academy will both be playing Lassiter the next time they take the court. The Yellow Jackets will head out to face the Trojans at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday, while the Eagles will play them later in the day, at 7:00 p.m.
