Baseball Game Preview: Newburyport Clippers vs. Pentucket Regional

The Newburyport Clippers will square off against Pentucket Regional at 4:00 p.m. on Thursday. Both come into the game bolstered by wins in their previous matches.

On Tuesday, Newburyport earned a 5-2 win over Manchester Essex. The Clippers haven't had any issues with the Hornets recently, as the game was their fourth consecutive victory against them.

Evan Luekens spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered just two earned runs on eight hits and racked up ten Ks. He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in three consecutive appearances.

At the plate, Jack Oreal was a standout: he went 1-for-3 with one stolen base and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Ryan Sanchez, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

Meanwhile, Pentucket Regional made easy work of Amesbury on Tuesday and carried off an 8-1 win.

Newburyport's victory bumped their record up to 6-4. As for Pentucket Regional, their win bumped their record up to 5-7.

Newburyport was able to grind out a solid victory over Pentucket Regional in their previous matchup on April 9th, winning 5-0. Will the Clippers repeat their success, or do Pentucket Regional have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
