Baseball Game Preview: Poynette Pumas vs. New Glarus Glarner Knights

The Poynette Pumas will take on the New Glarus Glarner Knights at 5:00 p.m. on Friday. Poynette comes in still looking for their first win of the season.

Poynette lost 9-2 to Adams-Friendship on Thursday.

Poynette saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Hunter Webster, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. Those hits marked the first that Webster got this season.

Meanwhile, it may have taken eight innings to finish the job, but New Glarus ultimately got the result they hoped for on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Marshall 3-2.

Nolan Julseth made a big impact no matter where he played. He looked comfortable on the mound, pitching seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off seven hits. Julseth was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring three runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Landon Stelter, who went 2-for-3 with one stolen base and one RBI.

New Glarus' win was their seventh straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 2-1. Those home victories came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 3.1 runs on average over those games. As for Poynette, their defeat dropped their record down to 0-5.

Poynette was able to grind out a solid win over New Glarus in their previous matchup back in April of 2017, winning 7-3. Do the Pumas have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Glarner Knights turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
