Softball Recap: Bangor Snags Seventh Victory in Last Eight Games

Bangor was forced to take a big loss against they on Friday, they got the better of them on Friday. They walked away with a 7-2 win over the Gobles Tigers. This was a revenge game for the Vikings: when they faced off against the Tigers on Friday, they had to take a 12-2 defeat.

Isabelle Horvath made a big impact while hitting and pitching. She struck out 15 batters over seven innings while giving up just two earned runs off three hits (and not a single walk). She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in 19 consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, getting on base in all four of her plate appearances with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. That's the most RBI she has posted over her last ten matches.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Alexis Wisniewski, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. That's the most stolen bases she has posted over her last 12 contests. Carley McCoy was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one run and one RBI.

Bangor has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 20-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.6 runs over those games. As for Gobles, they moved to 17-3 with that loss, which also ended their 11-game winning streak.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Bangor will venture away from home to square off against Berrien Springs at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. The Vikings are facing the Shamrocks at the right time seeing as the Shamrocks are stuck on a five-game losing streak. As for Gobles, they will head out on the road to challenge Fennville at 4:30 p.m. on Monday.
