Kenai Central faced Homer in a battle between two of the state's top teams on Saturday. The Kardinals put the hurt on the Mariners with a sharp 3-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the biggest victory the Kardinals have posted against the Mariners since November 2, 2024.

Sophie Tapley paced Kenai Central's offense, picking up 18 kills. Tapley got some help from Gracee Every and her 27 assists. Every was also solid from the service line: she led the team with three aces.

Homer's loss came despite strong showings from Almalinda Norman and Reilly Sue Baker. Norman had 12 digs, while Baker had nine kills and eight digs. Baker has been hot for a while, having posted five or more kills the last 12 times she's played.

Kenai Central has been performing well recently as they've won three of their last four contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 35-15-5 record this season. As for Homer, their defeat dropped their record down to 30-17-3.

Kenai Central has already played their next match, a 3-2 win against Nikiski on the 8th. Homer does not have any more games scheduled as of now.
