Basketball Recap: Denver Waldorf Comes Up Short

Denver Waldorf played a tough game on Monday in which they were outscored in every quarter. 2025 welcomed they with a 29-9 loss courtesy of the Golden View Classical Academy Sentinels. The match marked the Spartans' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.

Despite the loss, Denver Waldorf still got an impressive performance from Maelen Roybal, who posted five steals. Roybal is on a roll when it comes to steals, as she's now grabbed two or more in the last three games she's played.

Golden View Classical Academy found their leader in sophomore Ainsley Chidester, who dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 boards. Those 12 points gave Chidester a new career-high. The team also got some help courtesy of Mira Lensink, who earned four points along with seven rebounds and three steals.

Denver Waldorf's defeat dropped their record down to 4-3. As for Golden View Classical Academy, the victory was the fifth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 5-2.

Both teams will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Denver Waldorf will get a bit of extra time to process the loss as their next game is a ways off. They'll take on Mile High Academy at 5:00 p.m. on January 21st. As for Golden View Classical Academy, they will head out to square off against Aurora West College Prep Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
